Have you ever driven past a house and just fallen in love with it? Have you ever looked on the county website to see who owns said home and then stalked them out on social media to see if you could share their beautiful home? No? Oh, that’s just me? Well, lucky for us, this homeowner is just the sweetest person ever and did not immediately write me off as a stalker! Instead, she allowed me to tour her home with a photographer in tow, ask her lots of annoying questions and provide me with lots of detailed information so I could not only share her absolutely gorgeous coastal farmhouse with you, but also provide you with links to all the products she used or very similar ones!
While the modern farmhouse is still not a common place architectural style seen in Florida, it is becoming more and more prevalent. When you add in the coastal flare of our area, it creates a whole new type of farmhouse, a coastal modern farmhouse. However, this home is not just a farmhouse in architectural style alone. Nick and Meghan Uffelman built their coastal farmhouse on the farm that has been in their family for over 100 years! There is nothing like raising your children on soil that has been loved and worked by generations before them. They dreamed and planned their home for many years and that thought shows in the perfectly planned details. I absolutely love this photo of them holding their blue prints on the ground where their house would be built, such a sweet photograph I know they will cherish forever!
Though this farmhouse sits quite a ways back from the road, the flawless white exterior draws your eye to it like a magnet. Pairing board and batten across the exterior with the vertical lines of the standing seam metal roof adds height to this home that goes out, not up. With an all white exterior, minus the wood on the front porch, this monochromatic scheme streamlines the design of this home, tying the different rooflines, gables and dormers together. While some homes could appear boring with this all white look, this home provides enough visual interest to pull of the look flawlessly. With 5,119 square feet under roof, 4,092 heated and cooled this home is a lot bigger than it appears! It boasts 4 bedrooms, 4 and one half baths, plus an office, home gym, media room and loft.

Personally, I cannot think of the last time I saw a two story vaulted ceiling in a kitchen. Absolutely magnificent! Though the beams draw your eye upward, the vertical shiplap not only adds texture and dimension, but perfectly balances that height. While all the white in this room could appear cold and sterile, the warmth added by the wood, brick and metal elements makes this a crisp, clean yet cozy space. Classic shaker cabinets, quartz countertops and the industrial pendants combine to make this classic, timeless kitchen.

A pantry designed after my own heart! The design craftsmanship in this room is unparalleled. Generously sized at 7’x9′, with floor to ceiling cabinetry and a perfectly sized window that allows natural light to fill the room. In many kitchens, the pantry simply plays of the kitchen in terms of colors, textures, designs and patters. However, Meghan chose to let this room make its own statement! Opting for dramatically distressed raised panel and glass door cabinetry adds immense beauty and character to this room. I absolutely love how the interior wall looks like an old general store! Wouldn’t a really cool old scale look amazing there?

By carrying the same flooring throughout the entire open area of their floor plan, it makes even a smaller space like the dining room feel larger as your line of sight is not impeded by changing floor coverings. A well balanced room features both angles and curves, so this round table gives the square room perfect symmetry. Additionally, round tables are the perfect choice for smaller gathering as you can all see and hear each other, allowing for dinner conversation and board or card games.

I’ve spoken countless times about “learning to love the box” or rectangle when it comes to designing your custom home. In this home, there are essentially three rectangles placed together which maximizes their space without driving their cost up extravagantly. The vaulted ceiling carried throughout the entire span of the middle rectangle makes each room feel voluminous and magnificent. Carrying the brick all the way to the top of the vault transforms this standard brick fireplace into one impressive, eye-catching feature. The reclaimed, rustic mantle is simply stunning. It was repurposed from an old railroad about an hour from where we live. All the cracks and saw marks bring it so much character. Adding traditional barn door X’s to the built-ins, ties the new construction build to the beautiful old barns you pass as you enter the property, showing the true roots of this farmhouse.

The vaulted ceiling partnered with all those windows makes this master retreat feel bright and airy! Though a tall ceiling makes a room feel more spacious, this bedroom is the perfect size to maintain the cozy and intimate feeling. Adding in the beam and the gorgeous chandelier increases visual interest and appeal. The soothing color palette compliments the timeless design style creating a serene master retreat.

Keeping with the farmhouse aesthetic, Meghan, with the help of her father, built the barn door hanging in the master entrance. What a sentimental treasure!
Taking the ceiling down from the vault like in the other rooms was such a wise choice. Since heat rises, if they had left the ceiling vaulted, warm, steamy air from the shower would have risen which would have made it harder to take a hot shower.
As the focal point of this room, the superb, showstopping soaking tub shines. Generously oversized, it provides the perfect spot to soak the day away. The floor mounted faucet is just one of the premium fixtures chosen to add modern luxury to this relaxing retreat. Floor to ceiling subway tile gives this shower a fresh, modern look and the built in bench is the perfect place to prop up your legs for shaving or take a seated shower after childbirth, surgery, or an accident. The ledge around the window is a great substitute for a niche to hold shampoos, soaps, etc. Installing headboard behind the tub rather than more tile not only creates more visual interest but also cuts cost as it is much cheaper, both in material and labor! Also, using dark grout not only adds texture but allows your bathroom to look much cleaner!

Rather than just sticking the laundry room in a closet as called for on the original plan, the homeowners wisely chose to take advantage of this empty hall and make a nice, spacious laundry area. With custom cabinetry painted and distressed the same as the pantry, this laundry room is not only functional but adorable!

Though their adorable 11-week old was sleeping in the nursery, we were able to snap a few pictures of their older son’s room. It is just so precious! Meghan built his bed herself! She was worried about the crib to bed transition so came up with this adorable solution!
Just out of sight, the top of those stairs split into two directions. One heads toward the play room and media room (pictured below), the other to the home gym. Such a neat setup and great use of space!

The entire back of the house is screened in allowing for a completely bug free entertainment zone. Though the outdoor fire place will have limited use thanks to our extremely hot weather, once it cools down, this is going to be such a great outdoor space to spend time with their countless friends and family.
Just beyond the screened in area, they have a fabulous outdoor fire pit and beautifully landscaped pool. All the landscaping was done by Meghan’s dad and he did an amazing job!

What a fun tour this has been! Being able to share a local, coastal farmhouse that was dreamed up and built on the family farm that has been a working farm for over 100 years was an absolute honor.
