Hartford by Pike Properties

Being given one of the largest lots in this community allowed the builders at Pike Properties to design and build a home that took full advantage of the sprawling parcel. They also wanted to be the first to introduce what was a relatively new concept at the time, a modern farmhouse. Not only did they love this style, they knew the popularity given to it by Chip and Joanna Gaines would make it popular home! Working with their award winning architects, they carefully crafted this stunning design we have all come to love. With a wrap around porch complete with cedar columns, gable brackets and wing walls anchoring the roofline, exposed rafter tails and a metal roofed awning, this home is the epitome of the modern farmhouse style. Incorporating shakes, siding, board and batten and white brick provides extreme visual interest though the house is one solid color.

Incorporating so many textures, colors, elements and materials in this kitchen makes it one astounding modern farmhouse kitchen. Adding a window on either side of the range hood not only allows natural light to flood the room but also creates beautiful design symmetry. Enclosing the pot filler in picture frame tile detail turns it from just functional piece to a statement piece. Covering the 11′ island in dark shiplap adds the perfect modern farmhouse touch and contrasting it with the white quartz countertops makes it a true focal point. Choosing white cabinets with dark countertops on the surrounding cabinetry really allows the island to shine!

While keeping rooms seem to be a newer trend, they actually date back to the 18th century. While there is some debate over whether it is called a keeping room because it was adjacent to the kitchen allowing the family to “keep” the cook company or because it was a warm room and “kept” the family warm in an otherwise cold home, either way the purpose was the same: a space where people could be close to the kitchen to engage with the cook and stay warm without being underfoot while the meal was being prepared. I absolutely love everything about a keeping room! As a momma who spends most of my days in the kitchen, there have been many parties or events where I felt a little left out as everyone visited in the living room while I finished preparing the meal or did the dishes afterward. To have a space where my guests and family could casually visit with me would be such a dream! Pike Properties executed this space perfectly! What a cozy, intimate room! The vaulted ceiling is perfectly balanced out with the stunning fireplace. Plenty of seating, a cozy fire and no television or other distractions, it is very clear the purpose of this room is for visiting. Definitely a keeping room done right!

I think the way the designer described the master bedroom says it perfectly:

This owner’s suite is filled with visual interest. The wallpaper accent wall is such a nice touch and brings texture to the space. We choose some funky bedside pendants to hang on either side of the bed, perfect for cozying up and reading a book before bedtime. The tray ceiling is accented with inlaid shiplap trim. Shiplap is truly everywhere in this home!

What a stunning, serene, spa-like master bathroom! There are so many unique and intricate design elements in this space. With white shiplap adding texture, a dark vanity for contrast, and brass, glass and wood elements, this is one visual treat. Setting the gorgeous clawfoot soaking tub on a 6″ raised platform, surrounded by windows that need no window treatment, elevates it beyond just a place to take a bath into a royal, relaxing retreat. The shower itself is quite grand! Combining a rain head with a traditional wall mounted head and incorporating a bench seat, makes this walk-in shower a haven.

Occupying the back corner of the home is an outdoor eating area, just perfect for family gatherings or a lazy brunch. Because the majority of this home’s yard was a side yard versus a backyard, Pike Properties ensured the porch was on the side of the home to make sure the future occupants could fully utilize the space.
