Living in Florida, creating outdoor spaces for our family to enjoy year round was just as important as creating indoor ones! While intense heat, humidity, heavy rain and bugs are all thing we deal with, we made sure to create spaces we could utilize throughout the year. With three different porches and a sitting area next to our pond, there are plenty of options to choose from when looking for a place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors!
When we were choosing our floorpan, we first absolutely fell in love with the front elevation of the home we ended up choosing. However, we changed the entire interior layout, except one space: the screened in back porch! We love that it feels like a natural extension of our home. Adding a serving window increases this feeling. When we have people gathered on the porch, the person in the kitchen can feel like they are still a part of the party. Additionally, it makes serving food and cleaning up the aftermath much easier.
Daniel and I both come from large families, so having plenty of seating was very important to us. We found the Sunset West 94″ Coastal Teak Trestle Dining Table and combined it with their dining bench, which comfortably seats 5-6 small children, three Havana armless chairs, and two regular Havana dining chairs. We have been very happy with the quality of this furniture. Our back porch is our children’s favorite place to spend their afternoons, so they have finger painted, done countless crafts and been very rough on the furniture, however, it still looks great!
The seating area out by our pond is our little slice of heaven! Adding the Sunset West Laguna sectional and coffee table plus the Havana Swivel Club Rocker provides us with comfortable seating that will withstand our extreme Florida weather. Our favorite way to end the day is relaxing out here: listening to the waterfall, enjoying the twinkling lights and chatting about our day.
We are so thankful to live in a place that allows us to enjoy outdoor living almost year round. We love that we found a house plan with a spacious screened in porch and built it on acreage that we can enjoy. We love the furnishings from Sunset West that we chose for our outdoor spaces and look forward to many years of enjoying time with family and friends utilizing them!
